在2008年北京奧運會上，28個大項和分項比賽項目已經不會有變。現在距離2008年奧運會還有三年，比賽項目基本都確定了。那麼，奧運會的項目又是如何劃分的呢？

國際奧委會主席羅格說，武術將作為比賽項目出現在2008年北京奧運會上，其全稱是「北京2008奧運會武術比賽」。
羅格是在到南京參加中國第十屆全國運動會開幕式期間作上述表示的。他說，盡管武術比賽有別於奧運會其他28個大項的比賽，但這畢竟是武術走向奧林匹克舞台的重大突破。

據國家體育總局武術運動管理中心主任王筱麟介紹，羅格是13日在南京接受媒體采訪時談到北京申請進入奧運會問題的。這也是羅格首次表示武術將成為2008年北京奧運會的比賽項目，同時也澄清了「武術將成為2008年北京奧運會表演項目」的傳聞。
