英語四六級考試不是本校老師批改。

四六級作文閱卷工作制度是這樣的，在閱卷過程中，考試中心要求每位閱卷老師在作文右下角標上自己的編號。閱卷進行幾天後，每個小組會抽出一兩本已經批閱的試卷，把分數擦掉，採取自評或互評的方式，然後對兩次的分數進行比較，以考察老師的改卷情況，同時對分數相差太大的進行調整。考試中心還會對每位閱卷老師的改卷情況進行統計數據分析。

如果該老師的評分波動太大，考試中心會給予批評，評分比較平穩，中心可能會給予一定的獎勵。

如此的制度，按理可以保障分數的客觀性，對考生負責。但事實上，問題重重。閱卷時間安排太緊張。歷年的閱卷時間安排一般為一星期左右。為了節省開支，考試中心聘請的閱卷老師的數量是有限的。在有限的時間內，閱卷老師承擔了負荷過重的任務。如果閱卷老師要看得仔細一點，仔細權衡一下作文到底該給多少分，總是時間不夠。

經常這樣做，結局就是你面前堆放的沒有批閱的作文越來越多，最後大家都改完了或提前離開或閑聊輕松地等著下班鈴的時候，你還在埋頭苦幹或請人幫忙。筆者改了兩次作文，每次都是落在小組最後，壓力極其大。據說，與四六級作文不一樣的是，研究生入學考試的閱卷每天的批閱量並不是規定的，但改得快的人能夠得到獎勵。也就是說，現行制度鼓勵老師做「快刀手」。
