2. 英語級別的劃分
共有五個級別：
PETS 1 是初始級，其考試要求略高於初中畢業生的英語水平。（內PETS 1B是PETS 1的附容屬級）
PETS 2 是中下級，其考試要求相當於普通高中優秀畢業生的英語水平。
PETS 3 是中間級，其考試要求相當於我國學生高中畢業後在大專院校又學了2年英語或自學了同等程度英語課程的水平。
PETS 4 是中上級，其考試要求相當於我國學生高中畢業後在大學至少又學習了3－4年的英語或自學了同等程度英語課程的水平。
PETS 5 是最高級，其考試要求相當於我國大學英語專業二年級結束時的水平。
