M: No problem. I』m glad you like it.
Text 2
M: Excuse me, but you have some guests at the gate.
W: What? Who?
M: Mr. Scott Carpenter and his daughter.
W: I remember! Oh…Scott! I made a lunch date with him and his daughter weeks ago.
Text 3
M: Come in and sit down. We haven』t seen each other recently.
W: I』ve had a few weeks abroad.
Text 4
M: What can I do for you?
W: Can I get a city map at the hotel?
M: Yes, there』s a bookstore downstairs where they have pocket guide books with city maps. Shall I get one for you?
W: No, thanks. We can get one when we go downstairs.
Text 5
W: I received a letter from my aunt two weeks ago. But I』m so busy with my work that I can hardly find any time to write back.
M: If I were you, I would send her an e-mail. It is so quick and convenient! Your aunt is sure to be happy with it.

M: I think something is wrong with Mr. Hudson. He』s not as cheerful as usual.
W: I don』t know what it could be.
M; I heard last week that his mother had been ill. I wonder if that』s the trouble.
W: I doubt that. Yesterday he told me his mother felt much better.
M: Maybe he has a problem here at work.
W: I don』t think that he has any problem with his job. It』s well-known that Mr. Hudson is the best worker among us.
M: Perhaps there is some trouble in his home.
W: Well, the headmaster phoned this morning.
M: That must be the problem. He』s worried about his son.
聽第7段材料, 回答第9至11題.

M: Have you ever worked?
W: No, but I can learn. What are you going to do this summer?
M: I』m going to camp. I』ve gone to camp for four summers.
W: I』ve never gone to camp. What are you going to do then?
M: We do many things. In the morning, we go swimming and boating. In the afternoon we play basketball or tennis. We sit around a campfire at night. We sing and tell stories.
W: That sounds wonderful.
M: It is wonderful
聽第8段材料, 回答第12至14題.
W: Hi, Jeff. I have been looking for you. Do you think you could help me buy a car?
M: Sure, what kind of car do you want?

M: Can you pay for it?
W: Yes, I have enough money.
M: How much is enough?
W: The most I could spend is 2,000.
M: You』ll never get a new car for that. A used car is your only hope.
W: A used car is O.K, if everything goes well.
M: I just heard about something you might want to know. My grandma lives next door to an old woman. She just mentioned that her eyesight is so bad that she had to give up her driver』s license. That means she can』t drive any more.
W: Is her car very good? How much do you think she wants?
M: It』s really very good, only 43,000 miles and most of those come from her driving down to New York each winter, but I don』t know the price yet.
聽第9段材料, 回答第15至17題.
M: What a lot of rubbish and waste! I just wonder how people can deal with these things every day.
W: Don』t worry. There are many ways of dealing with them. The other day, I heard a big rubbish plant is being built near our town.
M: A rubbish plant? To proce rubbish or to deal with rubbish?
W: To deal with rubbish, of course.
M: How much rubbish can it deal with each day?
W: Maybe 3,000 tons, I』m not sure.
M: Our town will become cleaner after the plant is built.
W: I hope so.
聽第10段材料, 回答第18至20題.
Twin sisters are supposed to be very much alike, are they not? Well, my twin sister Jane and I do look alike.
However, we are different in many ways. I care little about clothes. T-shirts and blue jeans are my favorite clothes.
My sister often dresses like a model. We have very similar characters in most ways. I don』t get angry and enjoy
being with friends. In this respect, my twin sister feels the same. But she likes loud music and modern dances
while I find that nightclubs give me a headache. She is always with friends, is the favorite of our teachers and
never wants to have children. I prefer to be alone at times, don』t really try to please my teachers and want some
day to have a family of my own. We have tried to live in the same room several times and even agreed on the
color we like best and the kind of furniture we wanted. But I like to keep things neat and orderly while my twin
sister acts as if there were a servant around to pick up all the things that get thrown on the floor. I like to go to bed
early and get up early. She often goes to bed very late and then sleeps late the next day.
