英語A級相當於大學英語三級考試，略低於CET4，根據大專院校學生能力而設的考試等級。

考試方式為筆試，包括五個部分：聽力理解、語法結構、閱讀理解、翻譯（英譯漢）和 寫作（或漢譯英）。考試范圍為《基本要求》對A級所規定的全部內容。

第一部分：聽力理解（Listening Comprehensive）
