在辯論型考題中，雙邊討論(Discuss both views and give your own opinion)這種問法常常讓考生比較糾結，因為不僅要充分討論兩個觀點，最終還要寫出自己的觀點。由於題目眾多各有不同，到底應當給出怎樣的個人觀點是很多同學困惑的關鍵。
從劍5到劍10，總共有5篇雙邊討論的題目給出了考官範文。這些文章按照特點可以分成以下三類。大家可以學習下考官回答這種題目的思路與方法。
1 兩方觀點有明顯沖突，選出一方
1）Some people say that the best way to improve public health is by increasing the number of sports facilities. Others, however, say that this could have little effect on public health and that other measures are required. (C9T3)
範文觀點：增建體育設施並不是提高公眾健康水平的最好方法，還有更好的方法如對煙酒等不健康產品徵收高稅。
解析：A觀點認為增建體育設施是最好的方法，B觀點認為有更好的方法，這兩者是明顯沖突的，考生總歸要得出是否是最好辦法的一個結論。A有絕對詞the best way，選B好寫。
2）It is generally believed that some people are born with certain talents, for instance for sport or music, and others are not. However, it is sometimes claimed that any child can be taught to become a good sports person or musician. Discuss both views and give your opinion. (C7T1)
範文觀點：在體育或音樂方面獲得較高造詣是需要天賦的。
解析：A觀點認為在體育或音樂方面並不是所有人都有天賦，B觀點認為所有人都可以被培養成為好的運動員或音樂家。明顯沖突，B太絕對，選擇A。
3） Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal more money than people in other important professions. Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair. (C6T2)
範文觀點：成功的運動員拿高薪是合理的。
解析：針對成功的運動員比其他重要領域的成功人士工資高這一現象，A觀點認為合理，B觀點認為不公平。到底合不合理，這也是沖突的論題。
2 兩方觀點都有道理，融合一下
Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. (C8T1)
範文觀點：教育孩子成為社會有用之才，父母和學校都有責任。
解析：A觀點認為父母有責任有道理，B觀點認為學校有責任也有道理，二者都不可或缺，沒法選擇，所以融合一下比較合理。
3 兩方觀點都有明顯漏洞，改良一下
Some people prefer to spend their lives doing the same things and avoiding change. Others, however, think that change is always a good thing. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. (C6T4)
範文觀點：變化不可避免，但變化不總是好事。
解析：A觀點說有些人喜歡做同樣的事情一成不變。此觀點的漏洞是，這樣的生活方式不太現實，因為有些變化是個人無法規避的。B觀點說變化總是好的。它的漏洞是always太絕對，事實是有很多外界強加給個人的變化並沒有好的結果。對於這類題目可以對兩方觀點都進行反駁，最後提出自己的改良版本。

argumentation 議論型，利弊型這個是雅思作文中最常見的（80%）。基本上都是說現在的一種現象，大家看法不一，讓你分析兩種對立，然後說說自己的觀點。
如果是「1」，（agree/disagree）考官期盼的是一面倒/帶讓步的一面倒
一面倒（五段式）
1 點題+觀點(必須)
2分論點1+有層次的論據
3分論點2+有層次的論據

5總結+觀點的重復
把單純的一面倒改成2：1（自己的觀點占兩段，對方佔一段）更受考官的青睞
第四段改成讓步（基本上就是先褒揚，然後在指出這樣的觀點也不可取。比如說 禁煙，你前面都支持，後面你就說有人說禁煙會導致國家失去大量的稅收，這樣看來就不應該禁煙，但是，即使國家不禁煙保證了稅收，但是將來國家不得不拿出更多的錢去治療那些由於吸煙引起的疾病的人，這樣的花費超出稅收收入。這就是典型的讓步，就是讓對方先說話，然後再指出他的不足。這個很經典的）
如果是「2」，(advantage/disadvantage or what is your opinion)考官期盼的是對稱式(四段)的寫法：觀點的位置很靈活，可以第一段也可以是最後一段觀點給出。可以是絕對觀點，也可以是相對觀點（折中觀點），一般情況下，絕對觀點最後一段給出比較合理，折中觀點第一段給出更可取。
