You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic:Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal more money than people in other important professions . Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words. As a result of constant media attention, sports professionals in my country have become stars and celebrities , and those at the top are paid huge salaries. Just like movie stars, they live extravagant lifestyles with huge houses and cars. Many people find their rewards unfair, especially when comparing these super salaries with those of top surgeons or research scientists, or even leading politicians who have the responsibility of governing the country. However, sports salaries are not determined by considering the contribution to society a person makes, or the level of responsibility he or she holds. Instead, they reflect the public popularity of sport in general and the level of public support that successful stars can generate. So the notion of 'fairness ' is not the issue. Those who feel that sports stars' salaries are justified might argue that the number of professionals with real talent are very few, and the money is a recognition of the skills and dedication a person needs to be successful. Competition is constant and a player is tested every time they perform. in their relatively short career. The pressure from the media is intense and there is little privacy out of the spotlight . So all of thesefactors may justify the huge earnings.Personally, I think that the amount of money such sports stars make is more justified than the huge earnings of movie stars, but at the same time, it indicates that our society places more value on sport than on more essential professions and achievements.
Such is a human nature to explore and experience the unknown. A trend is that numerous people are fond of embarking on challenging sports events, such as mountain biking, rock climbing and scuba diving, especially among the dynamic young alts. Those who pursue excitement and the sense of refreshment in the ll routine daily life claim that life without risk is no life at all.
Indeed, a great many benefits could be gained via taking up those risky or demanding sports activities. Initially, the extreme adventures is a sort of effective way to help players relieve the strain and relax the mood, because the busy modern life often deprive one’ right of relaxing. The popularity of jumping accounts for risky sports’ significant function in terms of easing pressure. Imaginably, one’s working or study efficiency could be highly enhanced after doing his favorite sports events. Moreover, not only can the extreme adventures exert wholesome impacts, but also it could foster one’s skills, chasten one’s tenacity and forge one’s frustration toleration. Some extreme adventures, like rock climbing and surfing requires high techniques or much perseverance. Ultimately, the extreme adventures could be developed into tempting tourism items, which could generate immense economic value.
Yet, problems invariably ensue. One possible downside is that some perilous sports activities might become the roots of injuries and agonies. There exist high levels of injuries, which sometimes disable players and even ruin their whole life. Another adverse aspect is that some intense extreme sports are merely an excuse for violence. To illustrate, boxing involves excessive violence and bloody contents so that it imposes adverse impact on adolescent viewers such as arousing their sadistic impulse.
Personally, I encourage extreme adventures, for it is a symbol of freedom, so it is citizens’ elementary right to choose his or her favorite sports. Efforts should be made to ensure risky sports events are thrilling, amusing and profit-making, however, to prevent accidents and injuries is highly recommended.
