Some people think getting old is entirely bad. However, others think that life of the elderly in modern world is much easier than in the past. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Getting old is a natural process that nobody really likes. When you reach a certain age, your physical conditions will inevitably deteriorate, and you may suffer from various kinds of diseases. When you retire, you will feel isolated because your previous work contacts may be all gone, then you may feel useless to the world. Furthermore, when you get too old, you'll have to rely heavily on the support from others, either physically or emotionally, and your life will become a great pressure to your family and the whole society as well.
For all these bad things about getting old, many people argue that the life of the elderly today is much easier than in the past. In the first place, medical advances nowadays have made it possible for the old people to stay sound and healthy for quite a long while
even after they retire. Diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and heart attack which might have inflicted pain on the old people are no longer serious problems for them. Then, with the widespread use of modern communication technology, old people today are no longer isolated from the world. Instead, by using their personal social media, they can always stay in touch with their families and friends, and share with them whatever they find interesting in their life. In this way, they do not really feel lonely or abandoned. Finally, the improved social wealth and pension system have also significantly reced the pressure the old people pose to their families and communities.
(2)for all... 尽管(= in spite of)
(3)diabetes
(4)hypertension 高血压
(5)inflict...on...
(6)abandon
So, I do agree that the old people today are enjoying a much more comfortable life than, say, thirty years ago (not to mention 100). That is why, instead of being worried about their retired life, many people even begin to expect their retirement to come, because they see this as a new beginning of their life. I think, as long as the old people have the right attitude, the modern world has indeed much to offer for their happy, enjoyable and rewarding retired life.
(2)as long as 只要
(3)have much to offer for...
(4)rewarding

In many organizations, management hierarchy mainly consists of elite who have committed their entire life to the development of their organizations. However, the society has changed so dramatically that sometimes these elderly leaders or directors find it difficult to make decisions about the future of their business. Thus, I believe it is time to provide opportunities for younger generations to take charge.
Today’ young people normally have better ecational backgrounds than the old leaders do. In contemporary society, ecation is more accessible and systematic than it used to be, so young people who do not want to compromise the quality of their life would probably engage in more academic pursuits to prepare for career progress. Having acquired advanced knowledge and kills, young leaders are more likely to confront the challenges ahead than the elderly counterparts who have virtually stopped the acquisition of their knowledge and skills. For example, today a young leader with high levels of Internet literacy would make the best of the web to operate business, which to some extent boosts sales as well as the profile of the organization in this Internet era.
Young leaders’ charm also plays a key role in managing their organizations. It is generally perceived that young managers display optimistic attitudes and welcome new ideas. Due to these features, young employers would have a positive influence on their employees. For example, young leaders’ optimism for a temporary stagnant economy would bolster their employees’ morale, and young directors’ permission for teleworking could win the trust of those workers who have to commute a long way to workplace every day. These practices would increase employees’ wellbeing and help boost the proctivity.
Although it is the case that young people have more edges over the elderly executives in this day and age, it should not be ignored that those elderly executives have plenty of work experience that young people can rival with. With valuable experience and knowledge tested by years, the elderly leaders or directors would address the problems effectively and quickly. However, in this ever-changing society , these experienced leaders who attach status quo fail to respond to these changes as young people do.
In conclusion, old leaders have their position in managing their organizations; however, young people who show great talents in management should also given arenas to perform the ability to their best.
tables had vani
G. 关于雅思考题decribe an old person you know who you respect 这里面的老人是要自己认识的吗
one
I enjoy talking with my grandma a lot because she’ from many old people.
Now, she’s in her seventies. She’swise, patient, and caring. Whenever I face
difficulties in life, I would go toher for advice and help. She’s a good listener and
she is always patient when she listensto me. She’s also a good story teller. She
would always tell me something that happened in the past, and her life. I enjoyed
listening to the stories very much. Ithink these stories are much better than the ones
written by famous writers because they’re real lifestories. I can learn a lot from
them.
My grandma is also a book lover. Whenever I visit her, she’s always reading in her
living room. There’re many books on the book shelves.Sometimes I feel my
grandma’s home is like a small library. Because of theinfluence from my grandma,
I started reading since I was a little girl. Sometimes, Iwould discuss the books I
read with her because she has read so many books and shecan always give me a
different perspective to view the books.
I’m glad that I have such a good grandma that I couldtalk with all the time. I think
if we could be friends with the old people around us, wecan learn a lot from their
rich life experience.
