The house with the golden windows

The little girl lived in a small, very simple, poor house on a hill and as she grew she would play in the small garden and as she grew she was able to see over the garden fence and across the valley to a wonderful house high on the hill - and this house had golden windows, so golden and shining that the little girl would dream of how magic it would be to grow up and live in a house with golden windows instead of an ordinary house like hers.

And although she loved her parents and her family, she yearned to live in such a golden house and dreamed all day about how wonderful and exciting it must feel to live there.

When she got to an age where she gained enough skill and sensibility to go outside her garden fence, she asked her mother is she could go for a bike ride outside the gate and down the lane. After pleading with her, her mother finally allowed her to go, insisting that she kept close to the house and didn't wander too far. The day was beautiful and the little girl knew exactly where she was heading! Down the lane and across the valley, she rode her bike until she got to the gate of the golden house across on the other hill.

As she dismounted her bike and lent it against the gate post, she focused on the path that lead to the house and then on the house itself...and was so disappointed as she realised all the windows were plain and rather dirty, reflecting nothing other than the sad neglect of the house that stood derelict.

So sad she didn't go any further and turned, heart broken as she remounted her bike ... As she glanced up she saw a sight to amaze her...there across the way on her side of the valley was a little house and its windows glistened golden ...as the sun shone on her little home.

She realised that she had been living in her golden house and all the love and care she found there was what made her home the 'golden house'. Everything she dreamed was right there in front of her nose!

2The eagle

Once a farmer found an abandoned eagle's nest and in it was an egg still warm. He took the egg back to his farm and laid it in the nest of one of his hens. The egg hatched and the baby eagle grew up along with the other chickens. It pecked about the farmyard, scrabbling for grain. It spent its life within the yard and rarely looked up. When it was very old, one day it lifted up its head and saw above it a wonderful sight - an eagle soaring high above in the sky. Looking at it, the old creature sighed and said to itself, "If only I'd been born an eagle".

上周，接到通知，讓我在此次教研基地活動中做一個講座，就「課外閱讀」這個主題談一點個人的看法。《世說新語》中有「戰戰慄慄，汗不敢出」之語，今天坐在台前，有這么多的專家、精英在，也深感惶恐。我的看法肯定算不上講座，只就個人對於課外閱讀的認識及自己的一些做法，向各位做個匯報，不當之處敬請批評指正。
我今天和大家交流的題目是《最是書香能致遠——小學生課外閱讀方法的指導》。作為語文人，我們都知道，「課外閱讀」現在是一個熱詞，其實，它本身就應是一個熱詞，思想意識上可以說人人重視。但我們也應該看到，在加強學生課外閱讀的工作上，我們在平時真的做了多少，做了多少有價值的，這還真的不好說。
一、 也談課外閱讀的重要性
前段時間，在朋友的微信中，看到了這樣一個故事，題目是「孩
子數學成績不好，要不要靠補課提高」，回答是——閱讀才是最佳方法。
我是相信閱讀的力量的，閱讀能影響數學和其他的學科學習，那他對於學生語文素養的發展功力，還有什麼可以懷疑的呢？

（一）給你閱讀量的硬性規定：
第一學段：積累自己喜歡的成語和格言警句。背誦優秀詩文50篇(段)。課外閱讀總量不少於5萬字。

Rapunzel
upon a time, there lived an old couple in a village. The old couple prayed every day that they might have a baby. One day, an old woman moved into the house next door. The Old woman raised lettuce that looked very tasty and delicious.
The old wife wanted to eat the lettuce from next door, and she constantly pestered her husband to let her eat that mouth-watering lettuce. "Dear, I want to have that lettuce." Without knowing what else to do, the husband crept next door and stole the old woman's lettuce.
However, the woman next door was a witch, and she noticed that the husband of her neighbor had stolen the lettuce. The witch said, "You dare to steal another's lettuce. You deserve to be punished." The husband said, "I am sorry, but my wife wants to have the lettuce very much."
The witch said, "Is that so? Then you can take as much as you want. But there is a condition." The husband asked, "What is it?" The witch said, "If a baby is born, you have to give me the child." After a while, his wife got pregnant and gave birth to a pretty girl. The witch swiftly crept off with the baby girl and disappeared into the forest.
She gave the name Rapunzel to the girl, and this child grew up fast to become a beautiful lady. Yet the witch was afraid of losing Rapunzel, so she locked her up in a tower.
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, please let down your golden hair." When Rapunzel dropped down her long hair, the witch would climb up in order to prevent Rapunzel from meeting other people.
One day, a Prince happened to pass by the tower. The Prince lost his heart to the beautiful singing voice of Rapunzel. "How can I climb up to the tower?" The Prince decided to wait under the tower until he saw an opportunity.
On the next day, the Prince saw that the witch climbed up to the tower on the lovely yellow hair of Rapunzel. After the witch left the tower, the Prince imitated the witch. He said, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, please let down your golden hair." Then the long hair was dropped from the inside of the tower.
Upon seeing Rapunzel, the Prince fell instantly in love with her. He said, "You are the most beautiful lady in the world." Rapunzel also lost her heart to the handsome prince. The two lovers met each other every night, hiding from the eyes of the witch.
However one day, the witch found out about these secret meetings, cut off the hair of Rapunzel, and sent her to a desert. Then the witch dropped down the cut hair to the Prince, as he came to see Rapunzel. When the Prince climbed up the tower, holding the cut hair, the witch cast off the ladder sending the Prince crashing to the ground. m.niuyingyu.cn
He fell heavily on the earth at the base of the tower and became blind. The Prince gained strength by wandering around the land in order to find Rapunzel, and finally met her in the heart of the desert. Rapunzel recognized the Prince at once. Upon realizing that the Prince had become blind, Rapunzel's eyes filled with tears, which trickled down into the eyes of the Prince.
At that moment, the Prince gained his eyesight again with the power of love. Then the two people returned to the royal palace and lived happily ever after.

In the Spring and Autumn Period, a farmer in the State of Song was one day working in the fields when he saw a rabbit bump into a tree stump(樹樁) accidentally and break its neck. The farmer took the rabbit home, and cooked himself a delicious meal. That night he thought, 'I needn't work so hard. All I have to do is wait for a rabbit each day by the stump.' So from then on he gave up farming, and simply sat by the stump waiting for rabbits to come and run into it.
This idiom satirizes(諷刺，挖苦) those who just wait for a stroke of luck, rather than making efforts to obtain what they need.

英語是一種語言，語言運用的最高境界就是四會——聽說讀寫，因此相應的，要耳到口到眼到手到。很多同學在學英語的時候往往只是用了眼睛、或者用了手、用了嘴、用了耳，用了某一個器官，而沒有想到在一個單位時間裡面，其實可以五官並用，這樣的話可以提高自己學習英語的效率。
那麼具體是怎麼做的呢？拿到一個有聲文本，我一般會進行五遍聽音。第一遍進行聽音不看文本，第二遍，把自己聽到的東西寫下來，進行聽寫。第三遍一邊放錄音，一邊對照文本，看自己所聽寫的內容和原文本有什麼差距，尤其是要注意自己寫錯的和沒有聽出來的地方。第四遍一邊聽文本，一邊進行跟讀，即看文本、聽錄音，跟讀。第五遍不看文本，聽錄音，進行跟讀。

【大聲朗讀法】我覺得朗讀是非常重要的，因為在讀的過程中既訓練了聽力，又提高了閱讀水平，更重要的是培養了對英語的語感。語感是在面對英語試題時一種非常重要的能力，有時它是說不清楚的，但往往就是這種能力使我們在考試中能夠解決一些棘手的問題。再者，英語的學習應該在平常的生活中見縫插針。僅僅利用在課堂上的時間是遠遠不夠的，我們需要在課後投入大量的時間以鞏固和完善。另外就是我們的朗讀材料，不僅僅局限於課文，可以讀很多的東西，比如說一些英文雜志、英文報紙。而且這些雜志報紙上文章的內容和課文不同，經常會遇到一些生詞，是平常的課堂上可能遇不到的，但是在高考中可能會遇到，所以我們在面對生詞的時候，就可以搜索以前的一些積累。

【英語翻查詞典法】
我在課余時間就經常閱讀一些原汁原味的英文文章，鍛練自己的閱讀和理解能力，手邊常備詞典，不懂的單詞勤查勤記，而且不局限於平日讀書看報時遇到的生詞，廣告牌、包裝袋上的生詞，我也會加以留心。很多詞其實都是我們日常碰到的，只是看你在平時有沒有注意，手要勤一些，把這些生詞記在本上，有空時翻一翻，自然就記住了。日積月累，詞彙量逐漸豐富，閱讀能力也就水漲船高。值得一提的是，英語考試分為聽力、單項選擇、完形填空、閱讀、改錯和作文6個相對穩定的部分，復習中一定要有針對性，只是一套套地做卷子既花時間又難以突出重點。我建議同學們最好分專題，找弱項，進行強化練習，完形填空不好就專門訓練完形填空，閱讀不好就專門訓練閱讀。在復習階段，我就是按照這樣的思路進行的。當然對於強項的練習也要有所保證，以防手生。這樣的方法往往能夠立竿見影，收到奇效。

怎樣學好英語
想學好英語，首先要培養對英語的興趣。「興趣是最好的老師」,興趣是學習英語的巨大動力，有了興趣，學習就會事半功倍。我們都有這樣的經驗：喜歡的事，就容易堅持下去；不喜歡的事，是很難堅持下去的。而興趣不是與生俱來的，需要培養。有的同學說：「我一看到英語就頭疼，怎麼能培養對英語的興趣呢？」還有的同學說：「英語單詞我今天記了明天忘，我太笨了，唉，我算沒治了。」這都是缺乏信心的表現。初學英語時，沒有掌握正確的學習方法，沒有樹立必勝的信心，缺乏了克服困難的勇氣，喪失了上進的動力，稍遇失敗，就會向挫折繳槍，向困難低頭。你就會感到英語是一門枯燥無味的學科，學了一段時間之後，學習積極性也逐漸降低，自然也就不會取得好成績。但是，只要在老師的幫助下，認識到學英語的必要性，用正確的態度對待英語學習，用科學的方法指導學習。開始時多參加一些英語方面的活動，比如 ，唱英文歌、做英語游戲、讀英語幽默短文、練習口頭對話等。時間長了，懂得多了，就有了興趣，當然，學習起來就有了動力和慾望。然後，就要像農民一樣勤勤懇懇，不辭辛苦，付出辛勤的勞動和汗水，一定會取得成功，收獲豐碩的成果。畢竟是No pains, no gains嗎。
練好基本功是學好英語的必要條件，沒有扎實的英語基礎，就談不上繼續學習，更談不上有所成就。要想基本功扎實，必須全神貫注地認真聽講,上好每一節課，提高課堂效率，腳踏實地、一步一個腳印地，做到以下「五到」：
一、「心到」。在課堂上應聚精會神，一刻也不能懈怠，大腦要始終處於積極狀態，思維要活躍、思路要開闊，心隨老師走，聽懂每一句話，抓住每一個環節，理解每一個知識點，多聯想、多思考，做到心領神會。
二、「手到」。學英語，一定要做課堂筆記。因為人的記憶力是有限的，人不可能都過目不忘，記憶本身就是不斷與遺忘作斗爭的過程。常言說，「好腦筋不如爛筆頭」。老師講的知識可能在課堂上記住了，可是過了一段時間，就會忘記，所以，做好筆記很有必要。英語知識也是一點點積累起來的，學到的每一個單詞、片語以及句型結構，都記在筆記本上，甚至是書的空白處或字里行間，這對以後的復習鞏固都是非常方便的。
三、「耳到」。在課堂上，認真聽講是十分必要的，不但要專心聽老師對知識的講解，而且要認真聽老師說英語的語音、語調、重音、連讀、失去爆破、斷句等發音要領，以便培養自己純正地道的英語口語。聽見聽懂老師傳授的每一個知識點，在頭腦里形成反饋以幫助記憶；理解領會老師提出的問題，以便迅速作答，對比同學對問題的回答，以加深對問題的理解而取別人之長補自己之短。
四、「眼到」。在認真聽講的同時，還要雙眼緊隨老師觀察老師的動作、口形、表情、板書、繪圖、教具展示等。大腦里形成的視覺信息和聽覺信息相結合，印象就會更加深刻。
五、「口到」。學習語言，不張嘴不動口是學不好的，同學們最大的毛病是讀書不出聲，害羞不敢張嘴。尤其是早讀課，同學們只是用眼看或默讀，這樣就只有視覺信息，而沒有聽覺信息在大腦里的反饋，當然記憶也不會太深刻，口部肌肉也得不到鍛煉，也就很難練就一口純正的英語。所以，要充分利用早晨頭腦清醒的時間，大聲朗讀；課堂上要勇躍回答老師提問、積極參與同學間討論和辯論，課下對不清楚的問題及時提出，要克服害羞心理，不恥下問。對學過的課文要多讀、勤讀、苦讀，可以跟錄音機讀，竭力模仿其語音語調以糾正發音，要讀得抑揚頓挫朗朗上口，一些精典文章最好能背得滾爪爛熟。利用一切可能的機會，練習英語口語，比如，與外教交流、參加「英語角」活動、與同學進行對話、講英語故事、唱英文歌曲、演英語短劇、進行詩歌朗誦等。除了對課本中的範文要細讀精讀之外，還要多看些適合我們中學生的課外讀物，既可增長知識，又開闊了我們的視野，也提高了我們的閱讀水平。
學英語，詞彙的記憶是必不可少的，詞彙是學好英語的基礎，沒有了詞彙，也就談不上句子，更談不上文章，所以記單詞對我們就顯得極其重要。記憶單詞關鍵有二：
一是持之以恆：每天堅持記憶一定量的詞彙，過幾天再回頭復習一次，這樣周期循環，反復記憶，經常使用，就會變短時記憶為長時記憶並牢固掌握。需要注意的是，一旦開始，就要堅持下來，千萬不能半途而廢，切不可三天打魚，兩天曬網。
二是良好的記憶方法：記憶單詞的方法很多，學無定法，但學有良法。我認為，張思中的「集中識詞，分類記憶」不失為一種適合中學生的好方法。把中學生應掌握的3500個單詞集中匯總，分門別類，先過單詞關，然後再學教材，在課本中使用和鞏固它們的用法。分類的方法有多種，同一母音或母音字母組合發音相同的單詞歸為一類；根據詞形詞性、同義詞反義詞等集中記憶；把相同詞根、前綴、後綴、合成、轉化、派生等構詞法相同的單詞或片語列在一起集中識記印象比較深刻，記憶效果也比較明顯。這樣每天記40－80個單詞，堅持不懈，多聯想，多思考，多使用，詞彙問題不就解決了嗎？在學習的過程中多注視單詞的用法和片語的搭配，牢記老師講過的單詞慣用法和句型，這樣不僅有助於我們解題，而且在寫作時也會信手拈來，運用自如。
把單詞記住，了解詞性、詞義，掌握其固定搭配與習慣用法，背會時態、從句的各種用法，工作只是完成了一半，我們還得將它們應用到實踐中去。就像學游泳，光學理論，不下水應用，不等於掌握了這門技術。不必要搞題海戰術，但一定量的典型練習來鞏固所學知識是必不可少的。先重視基礎練習，如課後習題，單元同步練習，這些是針對課堂知識的鞏固性練習，不能好高騖遠，光想著一口吃個胖子。基礎知識掌握後，有的放失地做一些語法方面的專項練習和考試題型的專題練習。特別提倡同學們准備一本「錯題集」，把平時做錯的具有代表性的試題或語言點記錄下來，以備將來查漏補缺，這樣對知識的掌握可以達到事半功倍的效果。
英語是一種語言，不是記住了單詞、片語、句型和語法項目就是把它學好了，關鍵在於使用語言，所以在學習英語時一定要注意聽、說、讀、寫、譯全面發展。英語學習首先是一個記憶過程，然後才是實踐過程。學習英語，無論如何，勤奮是不可少的，它是一個日積月累的漸進過程，是沒有任何捷徑可走的，也沒有所謂「速成」的靈丹妙方，急於求成，不做踏實工作，是學不好英語的。任何成功的獲得都要靠自己的努力，要踏踏實實、勤勤懇懇、兢兢業業、一步一個腳印地學習，端正態度，認真對待學習中的挫折和失敗。失敗並不可怕，可怕的是對自己喪失信心而一蹶不振。對考試的失敗，冷靜分析，認真思考，只要對勝利充滿信心，善於總結經驗教訓，不斷努力，不斷追求，勝利一定是屬於你們的。
