Character development
Scarlett O'Hara is not beautiful in a conventional sense, as indicated by Margaret Mitchell's opening line, but a charming Southern belle who grows up on the Clayton County, Georgia, plantation Tara in the years before the American Civil War. Scarlett's mother dies of typhoid fever, and her sisters are gravely ill. The Yankee army burns the family's store of cotton, steals the food and livestock, but spares the family home. Scarlett flees nearby Atlanta where she had been living with Melanie, her sister-in-law, and Melanie's aunt ring the war ahead of the invading Yankee army, expecting to arrive at Tara to be cared for by her parents. Instead she finds the home and lands damaged, and the family barely surviving.
In the face of hardship, the spoiled Scarlett uncharacteristically shoulders the troubles of her family and friends, and eventually the not-so-grieving widow marries her sister's beau, Frank Kennedy, in order to get funds to pay the taxes on and save her family's beloved home. Her practical nature leads to a willingness to step on anyone who doesn't have her family's best interests at heart, including her own sister. Over the course of the story Scarlett sheds all her illusions — except her "love" for Ashley. The war's upheaval of Scarlett's life and the transforming choices she makes can be seen as a metaphor for the challenges life commonly presents to women, to face or deny; Scarlett's story particularly resonated with a 1936 readership which had just gone through a similar upheaval — the Great Depression.
One of the most richly developed female characters of the time on film and in literature, she repeatedly challenges the prescribed women's roles of her time. As a result, she becomes very disliked by the people of Atlanta, Georgia. Scarlett's ongoing internal conflict between her feelings for the Southern gentleman Ashley and her attraction to the sardonic, opportunistic Rhett Butler—who becomes her third husband—embodies the general position of The South in the Civil War era.

讀《飄》遐思----《飄》讀後感
我不得不承認，自己讀的書確實不多，尤其是名著、世界名著。在學校時，匆匆地讀《茶花女》、《紅與黑》等，也許是由於文學素養的淺薄，或是世界觀的差異，它們並沒有帶給我多大的震撼。暑假時，友人推薦我讀一下《飄》，當時還記得她很神秘，開玩笑地說了聲：「讀完了，你會改變你的擇偶觀呦！」
花了一個月的時間看完了它，很慚愧自己像老牛走路似的看書速度，卻也不敢恭維自己看得有多精。讀完後，心裡有股淡淡的惆悵感覺，朦朧中，總覺得自己身上依稀有思嘉的身影。讀完《飄》，它確實給了我很大的震撼，更喚起我對過去的懊悔。同時，對書中的描述的人生、友情、愛情，我也感觸頗多。
關於人生的善與惡，我不敢妄加評論，因為，畢竟我走的人生路還不及三分之一。十六歲的我，想法也許是很幼稚的。《飄》中女主人公思嘉·奧哈拉並不是傳統觀念的好女人，她有著迷人的外貌、聰慧的頭腦、堅強的內心、果敢的行為。同時，她也驕傲、貪婪、虛榮、追求實際，甚至曾經有過為了達到目的而不擇手段，她渴望愛情，不顧一切世俗觀念，勇敢地追求自己的愛。但當感情和現實利益相沖突時，她毅然將經濟需求放在首位。如果說我佩服思嘉，那我更衷情於瑞德，因為我也同樣的崇高自由，他的豪放不羈，他的現實，他的勇敢，都傳神地說明了他在亂世社會中成長的一個人才，是在亂世生存與發展的強者，強者應適應任何一個社會，這也成了一個亘古不變的道理。在經濟社會中對精神的取捨，在面對新生事物時，是適應還是迴避？思索過後，相信我們會有更多的啟發！
談到友情，雖然在《飄》中，作者並沒有極力去描寫友情，但媚蘭對朋友的這份友情仍然是讓我羨慕不已。記得桑費有句話：「朋友有三種：愛你的朋友、恨你的朋友、忘記你的朋友。」我想媚蘭就是那種愛思嘉的朋友。她對思嘉感恩、感激，甚至為了她可以去死，她的真心在臨死前終於讓思嘉明白她是她唯一的真正朋友。在人的一生當中，誰能沒有朋友？有幾個真正的朋友便成了人一生最珍貴的東西。對待朋友，最好也是最真的辦法--那就是真心！
讀完了整本書，我也摘出了最喜愛的兩句話：
「美貌並不能使人高尚，衣著也不能使人尊貴。」--警告貪慕虛榮的人。
「我向來不是那樣的人，不能耐心地拾起一些碎片，把他們黏合在一起，然後對自己說這個修補好了的東西跟新的一模一樣，一樣東西破碎了就是破碎了一一我寧願記住它最好時的模樣，而不想把它修補好，然後終生看著那些碎了的地方」。一遍匆匆的略讀，並不能體味多少真諦，也許，等我再讀幾遍時，會有更多的收獲吧。

二、原因分析以及改進措施
通過對英語試卷和考試情況的分析，針對英語教學中存在的問題，英語教學還要在以下幾個方面作進一步的努力：
1. 課改理念，鑽研新教材，夯實英語基礎
英語試題改革雖然強調了由過去的比較注重知識考查向注重綜合語言運用能力的考查,但是我們應該清醒地認識到能力高於基礎，但必須依託基礎，考查能力，並不意味著削弱對基礎知識的要求，而是要聯系實際。試題主要考查新課標和教材所規定學生應掌握的英語基礎知識。許多練習很多學生「一看就會，一做就錯」，這種現象比較普遍，有時學生做題失誤原因是對於常見用語掌握的熟練程度還不夠。其根本原因就在於基礎不牢，只有扎扎實實從基礎做起，才能最終達到「一看就會，一做就對」。英語基礎知識包括：詞彙、語法、句型等。詞彙是語言的基本單位，沒有足夠的詞彙量，是學不好英語的。詞彙教學不僅要重視，還要講究方法，注意「詞不離句，句不離文」，既教詞彙，更關注詞彙使用的語境，注意常用詞彙的使用和辨析，以及一詞多義的掌握。語法是語言的經脈，沒有基本的語法體系框架，便不可能順利理解語篇，復習中一定要引導學生梳理知識，幫助他們形成知識網路，把基本概念理清，掌握語法規則、習慣用語等基礎知識，逐步引導學生靈活運用英語知識的能力。
2 . 確立語篇意識和綜合意識，培養綜合運用能力
八年級英語試題突出了語篇功能和綜合運用能力。閱讀理解試題是分值較高的試題，因此，英語閱讀理解水平的高低至關重要。閱讀理解試題通過不同體裁，不同題材，從文章主旨大意能找出文章中的主題，理解故事的情節，預測故事情節的發展和可能的結局，並能查找具體細節，根據上下文猜測詞義，理解作者意圖和態度，把握文章的基本結構。因此，我們在平時的教學中要根據教材切實搞好語篇教學，並有意識、有計劃地增加英語閱讀量，題材、體裁要盡量多樣化，通過大量的閱讀，擴大學生的知識面，使學生熟悉不同體裁、不同題材文章的作題思路，提高閱讀速度，提高駕馭語篇的能力。選材要盡量要貼近學生的生活實際，注意時代性、生活性和社會性。語篇難度適當，措辭淺顯、生動、自然、地道，語句靈活且富於變化。在平時要通過閱讀培養學生閱讀多種文體的能力，如何從文章中獲取信息的能力和運用英語解決實際問題的能力。在訓練中要注意方法的多樣化和靈活性，同時關注學生運用英語進行直接思維意識能力和習慣的培養，啟發他們學會運用多種不同的方法來表達同樣的思想，提高用英語進行思維的能力，逐步培養良好的英語語感，提高英語語用能力。
3 . 加強英語課外閱讀，提高信息素養
英語知識的獲得與能力的提高是在不斷的聽、說、讀、寫的訓練過程中逐步形成的，而教材和課堂所能提供的訓練還是比較有限的，課標要求五級學生除教材外，課外閱讀量應累計達到15萬字。因此，要加強理解語篇的能力訓練，增強英語語感。

從學生的答卷情況來看，有些學生(包括一些英語基礎較好的學生)在答題中反映出的種種問題必須引起高度重視。因此，在日常教學中教師除了為學生做具體的示範和技術指導，如提示審題方法、研讀試題意圖等以外，還要認真抓好平時的規范訓練，養成認真審題、規范答案的好習慣，盡可能減少由於審題不仔細、答題符號不規范等不必要的失誤。另外，還要善於分析學生，找出學生的薄弱環節，合理安排好教材知識梳理、專項訓練和應試技巧指導。
所以，在今後的教學中應注意開闊學生視野，多渠道、大容量地給學生提供具有時代感的英語信息，加強語言運用能力的培養，少講解，多給學生實際運用語言的機會，在用中學英語，在學中用英語。

Last week, the American Film Institute released its list of the 100 best American films of all time. Not surprisingly, Gone with the Wind placed in the Top 10 (#4, in fact). However, although this epic romantic melodrama is undoubtedly one of the most popular and beloved motion pictures ever to grace the silver screen, it is also arguably the most overrated. Gone with the Wind is a very good movie, perhaps bordering on being great, but its subject matter and running time (which is easily 60 minutes too long) argue against its status as a masterpiece. As for its high placing on the AFI's list... it isn't the only travesty on that roster, but it is one of the most obvious.
Gone with the Wind is, simply put, a tale of two halves. The movie is divided by an intermission into a pair of roughly-equal segments. The first, which is brilliant and consistently captivating, covers the time period of the Civil War, beginning shortly after the election of Abraham Lincoln, and ending ring Sherman's march through Atlanta. The post-intermission half, which dishes out the suds, picks up at the end of the Civil War and concludes about eight years later. This portion of Gone with the Wind, while still retaining a degree of appeal and narrative interest, spins its wheels frequently.
Nevertheless, viewing Gone with the Wind on television pales in comparison to seeing it projected on a motion picture screen. New Line Cinema has chosen to re-release the film (which is now in its sixth major revival) for its 59th anniversary. (Why not wait a year for the 60th?) Anyone who loves movies but has only seen this one on TV or video is heartily encouraged to visit the nearest participating venue. Theatrically, Gone with the Wind is an entirely different experience from its small-screen counterpart; some of the second-half narrative tedium is effaced by the glorious visuals. With a restored three-strip Technicolor print that preserves all of the original's deep, vibrant colors and digitally-enhanced sound, this picture has never looked or sounded better.

《飄》，是我最喜愛的書。喜歡斯佳麗的勇敢堅強，喜歡瑞特的機智果斷，喜歡玫蘭妮的外柔內剛。
對於斯佳麗這個人物，我的感覺是矛盾的，是討厭卻又不得不敬佩她。她是個非常有個性的人物，她一生中愛了兩個男人，而她卻沒一個是了解的。如果她了解阿希禮，那她就不會愛他；如果她了解瑞特，那她就不會失去他。她一直以來是辜負瑞特的，她只是不停追尋著自己夢中的王子——阿希禮。她只是把自己愛的特點認為阿希禮有，她只是做了一件華麗的衣服，讓阿希禮穿上，而後愛上他。而事實是，她愛的只是那件衣服。
對於她，我是不得不佩服的，佩服她的堅強，佩服她對土地的執著，佩服她能在那中環境下放下以前所受的教育下田幹活，佩服她能不顧社會上的言論而開創自己的事業。她生命有幾個靈魂，一個是她的母親。他的母親是一位非常能幹、溫柔的典型貴夫人，是她最敬佩的人。可是，母親為了救人而被傳染傷寒，去世了。另一個，是她十幾年來最愛的人——阿希禮。她能在逆境中站起來，有很大一部分原因就是阿希禮。她對阿希禮是異常執著的。還有一個，就是玫蘭妮。在一起奮斗的十幾年裡，玫蘭妮已經成為她生命中不可缺少的一部分了。
我覺得斯佳麗就像個小孩子一樣，對自己想要的東西異常執著，而對自己所擁有的東西卻不屑一顧。一面在拚命讓自己幸福，一面又不斷地把幸福推離，把愛人推向深淵。
斯佳麗愛的是阿希禮，可是，阿希禮卻不要她。就像瑞特說的，阿希禮是個君子，只是生在了一個和他格格不入的時代。他還是用舊世界的游戲規則生活，只會撞得一鼻子灰。斯佳麗不了解阿希禮，所以她愛他，想盡一切辦法得到他，而當她認清他時，她再也不愛他了。
斯佳麗是個矛盾體，可又有誰不是矛盾體呢？她在生命的道路上一路走來，當她面對困難時，她選擇迎接，當她面對責任時，她選擇擔負，可當她面對愛的抉擇是，起初，他選擇蒙蔽自己，當她終於認清，要面對時，卻已為時已晚。而她，在無能為力時，就會告訴自己，明天是新的一天，明天一切都會好了，Tomorrow is another day。她在整個故事中，都是個充滿生氣、充滿鬥志的人。我最欣賞的，便是她的這句「Tomorrow is another day.」。永遠充滿了希望，充滿鬥志，永遠不會放棄，永遠不會絕望。這份精神，是最值得我學習的。所以，每當我遇到困難、心情不佳時，我便會告訴自己：「Tomorrow is another day.」。
書中另一個使我十分佩服的女性，便是玫蘭妮。她是個外柔內剛的女性，她幾乎擁有了女性所能擁有的一切美德。正如瑞特說的，她是他所見過的少數貴夫人中的一個。她是堅強的，她是愛國的，她用她的心愛身邊所有的人。當她丈夫打仗時，她在後方默默守侯，做她力所能及的事，當北佬打進城而她又快要臨盆時，她依然鎮定，當她身體虛弱而沒人下地幹活快要沒飯吃時，她和斯佳麗一樣，放下過去所受的教育和優越感，拖著虛弱的身體下地幹活，當她看到斯佳麗殺了一個北佬時，她沒有驚慌失措，而是幫著掩埋屍體，搜查錢財，擦拭血跡，當戰爭終於結束，她痛恨的北佬士兵來到她門前要求照顧而她們自己也沒有過多糧食時，她還是盡她所能地幫助他們，因為她希望在遠方也有一個好心的北佬女人給她正在回家的丈夫一口飯吃。
如此一位堅強的女性，卻又是如此的溫柔善良和善解人意。她執著地相信斯佳麗和阿希禮，即使有人親眼看見他們摟在一起，也執著地相信他們，保護斯佳麗。她明知自己的身體無法再承受生育的痛苦，卻執著地要再為阿希禮生個孩子，最終離開了她愛了一輩子的親人們。
真的是太偉大了，看著玫蘭妮，使我想到許許多多的中國古代女性，她們也是如此的善良，任勞任怨，相夫教子，然後默默無名地老去、死去。
整部書中，我最為喜歡的人物就是瑞特。他勇敢、執著，他能那麼深地愛著斯佳麗十幾年不變。他想保護斯佳麗，寵愛斯佳麗，照料斯佳麗，讓她事事稱心，而斯佳麗卻拒絕了。他說過，再永恆的愛也會有磨光的時候，而他的愛，是被斯佳麗，被阿希禮，被斯佳麗愚蠢的固執磨光的。他的心，死了。當他女兒離開他時，他的心，再也回不來了。他說過，他從來沒有那個耐心把剪碎的褲子縫好，再告訴自己這就和新的一樣，自欺欺人罷了。碎了就是碎了，再也回不去了，即使修好，上面仍然留有裂縫，再也不是原來那條了。
瑞特是個復雜的人，他有良好的家世，但卻仍和舊時代格格不入，他有銳利的眼睛，可以在亂世找到自己的處身之道，他對國家有熱情，即使他明知必敗無疑，卻仍在最後關頭入了軍。他愛斯佳麗，但他更了解斯佳麗，所以他從不說，只是通過行動表達，而斯佳麗卻從來不想去了解他。最後，他絕望了，一次又一次的失望使他再也沒有勇氣再去嘗試，他累了。
《飄》絕對是部值得再三品味的好書，文字優美，情節跌盪起伏、扣人心弦，雖然其中由於作者的主觀因素，對於美國南北戰爭的評價並不客觀和全面，但以文學角度來說，這絕對是一部絕世佳作，值得一看。
