老鷹是世界上壽命最長的鳥類。它一生的年齡可達七十歲。但要活那麼長的壽命，它在四十歲時，必須做出困難卻重要的決定！
當老鷹活到四十歲時，它的爪子開始老化，無法有效地抓住獵物。它的啄變得又長又彎，幾乎碰到胸膛。它的翅膀變得十分沉重，因為它的羽毛長得又濃又厚。使得飛翔十分吃力！它只有兩種選擇：1.等死,2.歷經一個十分痛苦的蛻變過程;一百五十天漫長的魔練。
它必須很努力地飛到山頂。 在懸崖上築巢。停留在那裡。不得飛翔。老鷹首先用它的喙擊打岩石，直到喙完全脫落。然後靜靜地等候新的喙長出來。然後，它要再用新長出的喙，把指甲一根一根的拔出來。當新的指甲長出來後，它們便再把羽毛一根一根的拔掉。五個月以後，新的羽毛長出來了。老鷹開始飛翔。重新再過神鷹一般的三十年歲月！

做完形填空題時，要講究技巧。掌握技巧了，即使是原來的英語水平，此類型題的得分也會上升的。
在做題時不要一上來就邊讀邊做，應該先接過這些空把文章完整讀一遍。簡單的片語搭配或句型在閱讀時就能讀出來了。讀完文章，對全文所講的內容有了大致的了解後，然後再重新邊讀邊做。往往根據空格前面或後面的句子就能知道空格所需答案。另外，要注意橫線前後是否有and, or, but等連詞。例如有「 big and ___ 「這樣的結構時，因為連詞前、後的單詞詞性相同，就可以知道橫線也要填「形容詞」，然後再到所列選項里去找就行了。要注意如果前面所給的形容詞是褒義的，那橫線上也應填褒義的，反之亦然。再如，如果連詞一端給出了形容詞的比較級形式，那橫線上就一定要填形容詞的比較級形式。如果橫線前給出的是動詞，那橫線上就一定會是個副詞，因為副詞總是跟在動詞後面，為動詞服務的，說明動詞的狀況。舉例：
He always studies ____ . A. good B. hard C. nice D. bad 正確答案就是：B。
當你做完整個完形填空題後，一定要再把全文通讀一遍。凡是覺得不通順或者別扭的地方，就可能是錯誤的。
