二十年前，我開著計程車為生。我遇到了我的生活中許多人感到驚訝，高貴（使敬重）我，讓我笑和哭。但是沒有讓我感動多一個女人，我是誰拿起一天深夜，當我接到一個在一個寧靜的小城市建設的電話。
當我在早上2:30到達大樓一片漆黑，除了在一個地下窗口光。我走到門前，敲門。
「只要一分鍾」，回答了弱和老人的聲音。
過了一會兒，門開了。在她80年代的小女人站在我面前。她穿著這樣的衣服和帽子，她看上去像有人在20世紀40年代的電影。
「你把我的包的車？」她說。我把她包的計程車，並返回到幫助她。她拉著我的胳膊，我們走對汽車緩慢。她不停地感謝我的好意我。
「這沒什麼，」我告訴她，「我只是嘗試的方式對待我的乘客，我希望我的母親對待。」
「哦，你這樣的好孩子。」她說。
當我們上了車，她給了我一個地址，然後問：「請問你開車穿過市中心？」

在接下來的兩個小時，我們驅車穿過城市。她向我展示了她曾經工作的建設。我們開車經過，她和她的丈夫還活著的時候被新婚附近。她停在我認為曾經是舞廳，她去了一個女孩跳舞的房子前面。有時，她會叫我慢在一個特定的建築物或角落盯著前方，並會在黑暗中坐，一言不發。
作為第一縷陽光，看到，她突然說，「我累了。讓我們現在就去。「
我們驅車在沉默，她會給予我的地址。當我們停下來，我打開後備箱（行李箱），並注意到她的小提包到門口。
「多少錢我賠你？」
「沒事。」
「你必須謀生。」
「有是其他乘客，」我回答。
幾乎想也沒想，我彎下腰，給了她一個擁抱（擁抱）。她緊緊地抱著我。
「你給了一個老女人的喜悅小的時刻。」她說，「謝謝你。」
我擠（握）她的手，然後進入昏暗的晨光中走去。在我身後，一進門關。那是一個生命結束的聲音。
