隨著新課程改革的不斷深入，英語教學中也越來越重視對學生閱讀能力的培養。在教學實踐中，閱讀是英語綜合實力的表現，它集語法、詞彙、速度、准確度、思維和背景文化等於一身，是學生提高英語學習效率的一種實踐過程，更是英語教學的重要組成部分。學生進入初三，閱讀理解能力在英語教學中佔有更加重要的地位，閱讀能力的培養成為英語教學的重中之重。英語閱讀教學的主要目的是教給學生正確的閱讀方法、閱讀技巧、培養學生的閱讀能力，是吸收英語語言材料、增加語言知識、擴大詞彙量的重要手段，而且閱讀能力的提高能為英語口語交際能力和英語寫作能力打下良好的基礎，也為學生從英語閱讀中認識學習英語的真正意義和價值，體驗學習英語的樂趣，為學生樹立學好英語的自信心打下堅實的基礎。綜觀歷年的考試題型，閱讀理解都是重頭戲，在各級各類考試中都佔有很大的比值。
下面我就自己在日常教學中對閱讀教學的具體做法談幾點體會。
一、 教會學生快速閱讀的方法。
為了加強限時間閱讀訓練，提高閱讀速度，可讓學生學會讀、學會瀏覽、學會默讀，從而連貫閱讀，學會悟意。
在閱讀教學中，我們要從一開始就指導學生不要從頭至尾一字不漏地讀下去，而要採用跳躍式的閱讀方法。用英語表達就是(Don』t read word by word, read word groups),在閱讀過程中善於抓住文章中的關鍵詞句和主題句，不要鑽在文章的某些細節里，否則會影響全文大意的掌握。也不要無目的、無重點地閱讀，而是要有目的、有選擇地快速瀏覽。在瀏覽過程中，要有意識地尋找所有需要的信息。要學會默讀，不出聲地閱讀可避免發音器官處於緊張工作的狀態，以便集中精力理解文章的中心內容，加快閱讀速度。它比有聲閱讀的讀速快得多，還可以避免有聲或無聲朗讀給人帶來疲勞而影響注意力。此外，不要因個別生詞而停頓或去查詞典，而是通過文章的上下文或者構詞等方法快速猜測出該詞的意思，從而更快地了解文章的內容，加快閱讀速度。通過上述閱讀教學方法的訓練，學生的閱讀能力就會有明顯提高。
二、 讓學生養成良好的解題習慣。
在閱讀文章的基礎上，我們要引導學生快速閱讀問題，並帶著問題重新閱讀文章，再次閱讀那些沒有答出的問題。必要的時候可以用筆將有用的信息標出來，這樣可以節省尋找答案的時間。
三、 要有緊迫的時間觀念。
閱讀開始就要集中精力，不能鬆鬆垮垮，看多少算多少，看到哪裡算哪裡，這樣閱讀的話，效果就不太明顯，也是不可取的。對此，我們一定要強調閱讀的時間觀念。
另外，在閱讀教學中，我們一定要以自己正確的語音、語調作示範，同時要充分利用錄音磁帶所提供的標准地道的英語做示範，指導學生多聽、多模仿，以便更有效地做好閱讀。
總之，在閱讀教學中，盡可能地給學生呈現豐富的、有趣的閱讀材料，加強學生的語言輸入量，按照有關教學大綱的要求，遵循中學生閱讀能力的提高是一個長期的，循序漸進的過程，切忌操之過急。興趣是動力，養成良好的閱讀習慣是前提，必要的閱讀技巧指導是關鍵，適量的課外補充是必需。所以，要想提高學生的閱讀 理解能力，我們必須培養學生的閱讀習慣，使他們掌握一定的閱讀技巧，並結合課內外的閱讀訓練實踐，認真分析學生閱讀英語文章中存在的問題，根據不同的情況，採用不同的教學方法，才能使學生對英語閱讀學習感興趣，才能有法可循有樣可學，積極學習，不斷培養和提高學生的英語閱讀能力。
