The Wolf and the Lamb 狼與小羊

WOLF, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf's right to eat him. He thus addressed him:"Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me." "Indeed," bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, "I was not then born." Then said the Wolf , "You feed in my pasture." "No, good sir," replied the Lamb, "I have not yet tasted grass." Again said the Wolf, "You drink of my well." "No," exclaimed the Lamb, "I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother's milk is both food and drink to me." Upon which the Wolf seized him and ate him up, saying, "Well! I won't remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations."

The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.

一隻小羊在河邊喝水，狼見到後，便想找一個名正言順的借口吃掉他。於是他跑到上游，惡狠狠地說小羊把河水攪渾濁了，使他喝不到清水。小羊回答說，他僅僅站在河邊喝水，並且又在下游，根本不可能把上游的水攪渾。狼見此計不成，又說道：「我父親去年被你罵過。」小羊說，那時他還沒有出生。狼對他說：「不管你怎樣辯解，反正我不會放過 你。」

這說明，對惡人做任何正當的辯解也是無效的。

Look at the Sky from the Bottom of a Well
There is a frog. He lives in a well and he never goes out of the well. He thinks the sky is as big as the mouth of the well.
有一隻青蛙住在井底，他從來沒有去過井外面。他以為天空就和井口一樣大。
One day a crow comes to the well. He sees the frog and says, 「Frog, let』s have a talk.」
一天， 一隻烏鴉飛到井邊，看見青蛙，就對它說：「青蛙，咱們聊聊吧。」
Then the frog asks, 「Where are you from?」
青蛙就問他：「你從哪裡來?」
「I fly from the sky,」 the crow says.
「我從天上上來。」烏鴉說。
The frog feels surprised and says, 「The sky is only as big as the mouth of the well. How do you fly from the sky?」
青蛙驚訝地說：「天空就只有這井口這么大，你怎麼會從天上來? 」
The crow says, 「The sky is very big. You always stay in the well, so you don』t know the world is big.」
