1． 讀拼法

英語是拼音文字, 是一種以字母與音素相對應為基礎的字母文字體系, 一定的音用一定的字母表示, 一定的字母表示一定的音。學習者只要掌握了字母以及常見字母組合的常規讀音、拼寫規則才會較容易地拼出單詞，不過讀音須准確。根據讀音記單詞又快又准，所以學習掌握好英語語音是學好英語的關鍵之一。有些學英語的人不重視語音，不想在語音上下苦功，這樣是學不好英語的。如：pronunciation，該詞只要記住字母組合tion讀/?蘩?藜n/就能輕松讀拼而出。

2． 構詞法

詞根、詞綴是構成英語單詞的元素，了解並記住這些元素不僅可以牢固記住單詞的意義，除去死記硬背之苦，而且可以舉一反三，"批量生產"，所以根據詞根、詞綴也就是構詞法記憶單詞既是傳統的也是科學的記憶英語單詞的有效方法。英語詞彙雖然龐大，但詞根、詞綴的數量卻很有限，要掌握它們會相對容易很多。如：詞根port，意為"搬、運"，記住了它和一些詞綴就能"批量記憶"。ex (前綴，意為"外、出") + port："運出"就是"出口"。im (前綴，意為"裡面、內") + port："運進"就是"進口"。 trans (前綴，意為"轉移，越過") + port："把東西從一個地方轉移至另一地方"乃為"運輸"。還有support, report, deport, portable, porter等都可以輕松記住了。再如：expose, oppose, compose, dispose, impose, propose, interpose, suppose, transpose, opposite, deposit 等這"一批"單詞都是詞根pos (意為"放置")"生"出來的，掌握了它及各前綴與後綴就能"一窩端"。

3． 分解聯想法

要是一個人長得很像你的家人，你一下就能記住他。這是特徵記憶法。所謂分解聯想就是在一個陌生的詞中尋找熟悉的"面孔"，即已熟練掌握的詞，在心中將之分解，"熟"的夾"生"的，再輔以聯想就能毫不費力地記住生詞。如：candidate，乍看很難記，但分解細瞧卻是熟悉得不能再熟的"家裡人"。can(能夠)/did(做的過去式)/ate(吃的過去式)，再聯想"能做能吃"不就成"候選人"了嗎？再如：pigeon(鴿子), pig(豬)/e(想像成豬的尾巴)/on(在......上面)，"站在豬尾巴上的"鴿子不是很好記嗎？

4． 閱讀法

所謂閱讀法就是通過閱讀記憶單詞。堅持每天閱讀一、兩篇難易度適當、生詞適中、語言生動有趣的短文。這些詞會在不同的文章中重復出現，見得多了自然就"混熟了"。

5． 英漢對照法

用一個可以放進口袋的小本子，每頁正面寫英語單詞，背面寫相應的漢語詞義，一有空閑就掏出本子對照英漢記憶，這樣做效率很高。

6． 竄詞法

所謂竄詞法就是將意近或形似的單詞竄在一起，對照區別，這樣就不至於張冠李戴。如：indignation, anger, resentment, wrath, irritation(同義詞，意為憤怒)；compliment, complement(形近詞，其意義分別為：恭維；補充)。

1.准備一些可拆分的動物圖片（類似於拼圖），如：pig,dog,bear,cat...用以復習和操練。
2.准備一些學過的單詞且大小相差較大的圖片或物品。
3.不同動物叫聲的錄音。
4.學生帶自己喜歡的動物玩具。
五、教學過程（Teaching proceres）
Step1 Revision
(1)課前播放歌曲 Fruit song ,使學生感受英語學習的氛圍。
(2)根據錄音里的聲音猜出是那種動物，復習有關動物的詞彙。
(3)根據老師的指令做出動作，如：Touch your ears. Touch your eyes.等，復習器官名稱。（2）、（3）兩項內容可以大大激發學生學習興趣，並為授新課打下基礎。
Step2 Presentation
(1)學習big和small。教師拿出大小形成對比的實物（或用簡筆畫畫出），說：This T-shirt is big. That one is small. 做游戲練習big與small。教師發出指令：Touch the big cake.學生分組進行比賽。學生也可發指令。
(2)教師出示大象的玩具或圖片，然後指著大象對學生說：Look at the elephant. Wow, it's so big.並藉助動作幫助學生理解句意。讓學生根據黑板上的其他的動物圖片進行練習，如：:Look at the pig. Wow! It's so big.使學生逐漸從模仿過渡到運用。教師繼續指著大象圖片說：Look, it has big ears. And small eyes.藉助手勢幫助學生理解句意。請同學邊做邊重復老師的句子。
(3)請一些學生依據黑板上的圖片為線索表演本課對話。
(4)學生自由選擇黑板上的動物進行表達練習。

分組練習
(1)教師鼓勵學生學習 The opposite song ，使他們在快樂的歌曲表演中再次熟悉big,small這兩個詞。
(2)要求學生觀察所出示圖片的特徵，迅速說出如：Look,the elephant has big ears. And small eyes.的句子，說對的小組可以得到獎勵。在練習的後半部分可以出示小貓的圖片，讓他們試著說出Look, it has big eyes. And small ears. Look, it has small ears. And big eyes. 或是人物的圖片，練習描述人物：She has big eyes. Peter has a small nose.等句子，使學生們學會根據實際情況進行描述。
(3)讓學生根據動物的特徵找出相應的器官圖片，一邊說，一邊把不完整的動物圖片補充完整。此項練習既可以練習學生說的能力，也可以培養學生的觀察力。
