The Old Cat
An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run quickly, and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day the old cat saw a mouse; she jumped and caught the mouse. But she could not bite it; so the mouse got out of her mouth and ran away, because the cat could not bite it.
Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not killed the mouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said, "Do not hit your old servant. I have worked for you for many years, and I would work for you still, but I am too old. Do not be unkind to the old, but remember what good work the old did when they were young."

老貓

A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, "I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat." Then he took the apples and threw them away into the st.
He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, "I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot get over the river."
He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the st and eat them.

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse
Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city."
The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, " Run! Run! The cat is coming!" They ran away quickly and hid.
After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, "I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid."

隨著課程改革的逐步深入,小學英語教學正由傳統的知識型方法迅速地向語言交際運用型教學方法過渡。在小學英語課堂中隨時都能看到:用英語說,用英語講,用英語唱,用英語演的場面,小學生,尤其是低年級學生,對英語非常地感興趣。交際是教學的最終目標,然而我們在發展語言交際時,往往忽視了其實用性和有效性,忽視了閱讀教學的現實意義。在小學階段開設有效的英語閱讀課,對於開發語言的實用性與有效性,具有極其重要的現實意義,也是時代發展的必然趨勢。成功的英語教學要依賴大量的語言材料和語言實踐。在閱讀訓練中,它可以幫助學生得到樂趣,獲取信息,培養學生的英語閱讀理解能力,使學生養成良好的英語閱讀習慣,具有正確的閱讀技巧,擁有主動學習的能力和合作的精神,為終身學習打下基礎。 一、有效的小學英語閱讀教學策略 1、師生互動型策略 這種策略有助於激發學生閱讀的興趣,活躍課堂氣氛,師生共同積極參與,關系融洽。它的特點是:教師導入,學生感知→學生精讀,教師講解→鞏固操練,內化語言。可以採用以下幾種方式: A教師可以通過自己繪聲繪色地講述故事、運用實物、播放錄音、多媒體展示等多種手段引出閱讀材料,使學生初步感知,並產生要閱讀的興趣。 B讓學生帶著問題閱讀,在學生的交流、老師的講解下理解一些單詞、片語的含義與用法。還可以設計一些Yes\Noquestion或簡單的Choice。這一步要求學生反復閱讀,仔細體會。 2、主動參與型策略 它的基點是「學生是學習的主體」,特點是:自讀理解→交流討論→小結鞏固。這種教學策略比較適合於中高年級,一般選擇的閱讀材料語言難度不大,接近教材內容,並盡量貼近學生的實際生活或者符合他們的年齡特點。 首先,充分利用選材上的優勢來滿足不同層次學生的興趣,並根據學生的特點來激發每個人的學習熱情,這是培養他們自學能力的一個重要方面。教師還應注意教學內容和教學形式的趣味性,以培養學生的閱讀興趣。其次,還要注重開發學生的學習潛能。在閱讀過程中,教師應正確地引導學生開發其觀察、注意、記憶、思維和想像等能力。閱讀理解是英語知識綜合運用的體現,閱讀教學是為完成這一從「知識向能力過渡」進行轉化的實戰。從宏觀上看,教師是主導,學生是主體。從戰略上看,閱讀教學要緊扣整體,化零為整,就大不就小,宜粗不宜細。從實質上看,讀得懂,然後才說(輸出)得出。 3、自主開放型策略 也稱彈性閱讀,以課外讀物為本,進行閱讀教學,適用於課外教學。 新課程標准指出,小學生的英語學習在畢業時要達到二級目標要求——即除了能認讀、理解教材上所示的單詞、短語和對話、短文外,還應看懂賀卡等所表達的簡單信息,藉助圖片讀懂簡單的故事或小短文,並養成按意群閱讀的習慣,正確朗讀故事或短文,並看懂英文動畫片和程度相當的英語教學節目。要達到這一目標和要求,僅靠教材所提供的語片和材料,肯定是遠遠不夠的。課外材料的合理、有效利用,既是對教材的有效補充,又是對教材學習的一種檢測和提升,也是提高學生英語能力的有效、直接的方式。另外,課外閱讀能讓學生擴大視野,獲取知識,不斷鞏固和提高已學過的語言知識及其運用能力。同時,舊知識在新的語境中不斷復現,新語言現象的頻頻出現,通過反復的閱讀和合理的引導與幫助,能讓學生起到觸類旁通,拓展視野,深化知識的作用。 可以採用以下幾種方式進行檢測和反饋:一是騰出課堂教學的1/3時間用以自讀,教師提供一些課外讀物,讓學生根據自己的興趣愛好選擇材料自由地閱讀;二是鼓勵學生課外廣泛閱讀,閱讀的內容應切合學生的實際水平、興趣愛好;三是開展豐富多彩的課外活動,如開展手抄報比賽,開展講故事、作講演、演短劇等活動,背誦和改編rhyme,chant等和唱一些英語歌曲以及鼓勵學生互相交換英語課外書和視聽材料等。這些課外閱讀活動會讓學生仔細自主地鑽研手頭閱讀材料,不僅激發了學生閱讀的積極性,而且還擴大了學生的詞彙量,提高了學生的活動能力,鍛煉了學生的英語思維能力。 三種閱讀教學策略是相輔相成的,教師和學生在運用的過程中,應根據不同年齡、不同層次的學生靈活地、綜合地使用,才能充分地發揮出其最佳效果。 二、提高學生的英語閱讀能力,建構閱讀教學的模式。 1、內容文字難度不大的文章,以「聽→說」為主線,並以「分→總」的方式進行教學。 2、內容難度較高的文章,以「聽/讀→說」為主線,即「總→分」的方式進行教學。 3、「總→分→總」教學模式,即「讀→說→寫」。其基本框架結構如下:passage→generalidea→words/phrases/patterns→passage→specificidea→output 三、運用信息技術輔助小學英語閱讀教學 隨著計算機、網路的發展,將信息技術運用於課堂教學已受到越來越廣泛地接受和採納。在小學英語閱讀教學中充分發揮信息技術的數字化、網路化、智能化和多媒體化的優勢,以計算機為工具,以網路為資源,以活動為載體,以語言交際為主線,豐富教學形式,優化教學過程,對於提高學生英語閱讀能力發揮著很大的作用。信息技術的應用,可以根據閱讀內容呈現情景,使教學過程變得形象、生動、活潑,營造良好的學習氛圍,使學生樂學、愛學,激發求知慾望。 閱讀教學碰到的最大問題便是學生手頭沒有那麼多圖文並茂,程度適中的閱讀材料。 四、在英語閱讀教學中還需注意的問題 1、要授之以法,把學習的主動權交給學生。 傳統的看法認為教師的任務就是傳授知識,但是僅僅傳授知識是不夠的。要提高學生的素質,就要培養學生的能力。因此英語閱讀教學中要突出「學」字,從讓學生「學會」轉到培養學生「會學」,授之以法,把學習的主動權交給學 2、滲透異國文化,拓展閱讀空間。 語言具有豐富的文化內涵,英語學習中有許多跨文化交際的因素,這些因素在很大程度上影響對英語的學習和使用,因此通過文化背景的滲透來培養文化意識有助於學生真正學好、用好英語。在Myholiday的教學中我也積極地滲透西方節日及文化。如Christmas,ThanksgivingDay,Valentine』sDay等等,這樣,讓學生在主動,有興趣的條件下自主地拓展了課外閱讀的空間。 3、要在英語閱讀教學中滲透人格教育。
