年輕女性正在對大學失去信心，近半數的女性認為攻讀學位不劃算。
一項調查顯示，由於大學學費高企，找到好工作的可能性又很小，高等教育對女性的吸引力越來越小。
該調查發現，如果再給這些大學畢業的女性一次選擇的機會，近半數人不會去讀大學。
這項調查是在英國政府出台新學費計劃前進行的，調查結果讓人憂心。新計劃說大學學費2012年將漲到9000英鎊，幾乎是現在的三倍。
該調查警告說將有一代胸懷大志的年輕女性會因此失去繼續受教育的機會和一份有前途的職業。

而畢業生的經濟狀況尤其糟糕，半數畢業生說她們的學生貸款太多，根本攢不下錢。

七分之一的女性說婚禮的巨額支出迫使她們延遲結婚計劃。
超過六分之一的人承認因為經濟窘迫而推遲生育計劃。
婦女教育運動領導者、切爾滕納姆女子學院的前校長薇琪?塔克說：「學費上漲將使很多人都開始思考上大學是為了什麼。
「雖然在學費上漲計劃之前，人們也不會自然而然地認為學歷能帶來理想工作。但是到了最近人們才開始看重這兩者之間的聯系。
「我認為女性應該是出於對學習的真正興趣、想得到一個寶貴的學習機會而去上大學。如果她們僅僅是為了找工作而去上大學，那很多人都會覺得失望的。」

『玖』 激發我們的閱讀興趣英語

興趣是最好的老師.一個成功的英語教師要在教學中有意識、有目的地培養學生對英語的持久興趣,在閱讀教學中教師應運用多種途徑激發學生實踐的熱情,增強學習英語的自信，讓學生在學習英語的過程中實現從「要我學」為「我要學」。
1.精心選擇閱讀材料
閱讀材料，尤其是初中學生的英語閱讀材料，不僅要趣味性濃，並且要貼近生活。學生往往喜愛的閱讀材料有故事、童話、幽默小品等形式。因此在選擇讀物時盡量選一些內容生動、有趣、富有吸引力的材料，增強學生的閱讀興趣。其次閱讀材料的難易程度直接影響學生的閱讀心理與情感。生詞太多，學生讀不懂閱讀材料，達不到訓練的目的，還會對閱讀產生畏懼心理而放棄閱讀，給進一步的閱讀教學造成障礙。因此所選材料應適合學生的實際知識水平，難易適當，使學生讀得輕松愉快，在快樂中獲得知識，增強了他們閱讀的信心。
2.拓展文化背景知識
現行中學英語教材為我們的學生提供了較為豐富的閱讀材料。課文題材多樣，體裁各異，內容涉及了科學技術、天文地理、環境保護、自然災害、醫療救護、飲食文化等。教師可以在閱讀前，通過介紹，提問等方式激活學生原有的文化背景知識，並提供他們所缺乏的文化背景信息。這樣既可以激發學生的閱讀興趣，又可以保證其理解和交際的有效性,根據學生的年齡特點和認知能力，逐步擴展文化知識的內容和范圍。
3.豐富閱讀競賽活動
老師在備課的時候不僅備教材更要備學生，應當針對初中學生的特點，設計恰當的課堂活動。教師可以通過舉行競賽性質的活動，如：開展拼寫單詞比賽，激發學生學習單詞的興趣；開展朗讀比賽，激發學生的朗讀興趣，這些比賽其實就是創造一種學以致用的氛圍，使學生們切實感到英語的成就感，有「用武之地」，在比賽中，當學生在某一方面獲得了一次成功後，就會增強學習英語的興趣，於是就會更主動自覺地學習。如此良性循環，學生的學習負擔逐漸減輕，學習效果也就不斷提高。
