第一是你的英英词库。
即你是否拥有英语对英语的同义词词库，还是只知道中文的意思，要知道这是国际性的英语考试，是老外出题，所以他绝对不会以你做中国试题的思维考测你，雅思阅读就是在全文找答案，可是你所定位的词很多时候不会老老实实的坐在原文里等着你，这就需要你具备英语同义词的能力。比如有一道题目，是T/F/NG，题目是：
The Medical reference books in Tang Dynasty range from both academical and practical contents.
这句话的考点词是非常明确的，医疗书是否既包括学术，又包括实践的内容。如果只有其中一个，而不包括另一个，一定是NO。但是很多考生在原文中怎么也找不到答案，所以选了NG。但是这样你就错了，因为在原文中，academic变成了theoritical,然而practical却变成了pragmatic,medial reference books转为了medician texts。在学生应用对应法技巧时，如果没有同义词的积累，这题是作不出来的。曾经有学生问我，是否要买市场上的同义词词汇书，说句实话，我曾经读过几本所谓的名牌学校的书籍，不能否认，词汇很多，内容很丰富，很厚，所以价钱不菲。可是真正雅思阅读会考到的词汇，在书中并不多，而且雅思考官喜欢考的词汇的同义词不是很偏，可是这些书却一个词汇列出了5，6个同义词，而且这是不考的，这不仅浪费了学生的精力，而且也打击了他们学习英语的热情和自信，因为考雅思真的要这么多的词汇吗？其实不然，比如，uitilize,这个词，雅思阅读可喜欢考了，每次考，考官其实就是想知道你懂不懂，utilize就是use,所以你只需要知道一个常考的对应词即可了。每个人的情况不同，也可以登录文都国际教育官网进行一对一的咨询。
第二是你的paraprase的能力。
这什么意思呢？就是改句子的能力。但不是写句子，让你改。为什么考测这个能力，原因很简单，我在悉尼大学读书时，每个星期都得写论文，上万字的英文，怎么写？自己编，没这个本事，我相信写中文论文的都是抄的，可是怎么抄，不改字全抄，那死定了，肯定落下一个抄袭的罪名，搞不好，甚至被开除都有可能，所以抄要有艺术。改词，像我讲的第一种能力，那是初级能力，高手是改句子，换了一句话或几句话来说，但是表达一样的意思，这就是我说的in other words。这个能力在heading list题型里，淋漓尽致的体现了考官的此意图，比如题目：
The company employers show less caring to their staffs.
“老板对员工不象从前那样关心了。”原文：The caring image of company has gone.---公司关怀员工的形象一去不返了，多么的经典了，可是我们在国外读书时，也改出比这个还要经典的句子，所以考官是希望你具备这样的识别能力，可是不从这方面的能力训练，如何能达到这样的识别能力，技巧又能如何帮助你。
第三是你的句子主干的分析能力。
通过同义词或paraphrase的能力找到答案所在处时，你要大概的知道这句话的意思，或者你要使用对应法的技巧。可是学生一看到许多单词都不懂，慌死了，都不知道怎么做了，所以要有分析主干的能力，知道什么是要看的，什么不用看。这里面名堂就多了，老师的经验就充分的体现在这里，并不是教你看的懂整句话的老师就是很棒，而是教你在单词都看不懂的情况下，仍然能看的懂，这才是最重要的。因为你到了国外念书，每日的阅读量是几百页，而且许多单词对你而言可能都很陌生，如果你把每个单词慢慢的查，每个句式慢慢的分析，你死定了，一天就算你牛，也最多20页左右，而且看完了，也不记得看了什么，没用！这部分是典型的能力+技巧。
第四是你的速度。
就是说要有大义灭亲的精神，一道题目1分半做不出，一定要学会放弃，告诉自己，一道题目算什么，17道没有了，我还能得6分呢，因为即使是最难的文章也会给学生送分的题目，所以千万要学会放弃。
第五是你的作题技巧。
缺乏技巧，就像答案在窗户纸后面，可是你不知道用手指一戳，就可以得到了。为什么，我曾经教过一个在澳洲留学两年的学生，雅思阅读一直都上不了6分，总是5分左右。可是我接手后，我对她说，我有把握2个星期帮你拿至少6分，旁边有一个学生不乐意了，问：老师，为什么我们测试结果一样，她只用2个星期，而我却要3-4个月，我回答她：“原因很简单，她的能力事实已经到了6-6.5分，之所以没有拿到，因为她缺乏做题的方法，可是你却是两个都缺乏，光是能力我就需要3个多月才能达到我上述列举的几条，技巧2个星期，你就可以掌握了，可是没有用啊，你没有能力，光有技巧，你只知道使用的方法步骤，可是你却没有实力来支持使用。”结果澳洲回来的女生在2个星期后，果然考了6.5分，她很感谢我，我说你不用谢我，应该谢谢你在澳洲2年的自己努力，没有那2年的努力，能力的累积，我也不可能帮你在2个星期内拿到这个分数。
