正当它（这里当指蚂蚁）觉得绝望时，一只鸟正好飞经过。鸟儿看见这只蚂蚁回在水中挣扎。出答于对这只蚂蚁的可怜，这只鸟飞下来，并衔起一片叶子。鸟儿从蚂蚁上方飞过，将叶子放在水上。之后，蚂蚁迅速爬上叶子，最终安全了。
几天后，这只蚂蚁遇上那只救了它性命的鸟儿。当时鸟儿正停憩在一根树枝上，蚂蚁看见了一个猎人。猎人正把他的枪口瞄准在鸟身上。蚂蚁勇敢地向那个猎人爬去，咬了他的脚。猎人疼得大喊（cry也有喊的意思）出来。鸟儿听见猎人的喊声，立马飞走了。这只勇敢的蚂蚁救了这只鸟的命。
