The Old Cat
An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run quickly, and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day the old cat saw a mouse; she jumped and caught the mouse. But she could not bite it; so the mouse got out of her mouth and ran away, because the cat could not bite it.
Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not killed the mouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said, "Do not hit your old servant. I have worked for you for many years, and I would work for you still, but I am too old. Do not be unkind to the old, but remember what good work the old did when they were young."

A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, "I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat." Then he took the apples and threw them away into the st.
He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, "I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot get over the river."

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse
Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city."
The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, " Run! Run! The cat is coming!" They ran away quickly and hid.
After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, "I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid."

随着课程改革的逐步深入,小学英语教学正由传统的知识型方法迅速地向语言交际运用型教学方法过渡。在小学英语课堂中随时都能看到:用英语说,用英语讲,用英语唱,用英语演的场面,小学生,尤其是低年级学生,对英语非常地感兴趣。交际是教学的最终目标,然而我们在发展语言交际时,往往忽视了其实用性和有效性,忽视了阅读教学的现实意义。在小学阶段开设有效的英语阅读课,对于开发语言的实用性与有效性,具有极其重要的现实意义,也是时代发展的必然趋势。成功的英语教学要依赖大量的语言材料和语言实践。在阅读训练中,它可以帮助学生得到乐趣,获取信息,培养学生的英语阅读理解能力,使学生养成良好的英语阅读习惯,具有正确的阅读技巧,拥有主动学习的能力和合作的精神,为终身学习打下基础。 一、有效的小学英语阅读教学策略 1、师生互动型策略 这种策略有助于激发学生阅读的兴趣,活跃课堂气氛,师生共同积极参与,关系融洽。它的特点是:教师导入,学生感知→学生精读,教师讲解→巩固操练,内化语言。可以采用以下几种方式: A教师可以通过自己绘声绘色地讲述故事、运用实物、播放录音、多媒体展示等多种手段引出阅读材料,使学生初步感知,并产生要阅读的兴趣。 B让学生带着问题阅读,在学生的交流、老师的讲解下理解一些单词、词组的含义与用法。还可以设计一些Yes\Noquestion或简单的Choice。这一步要求学生反复阅读,仔细体会。 2、主动参与型策略 它的基点是“学生是学习的主体”,特点是:自读理解→交流讨论→小结巩固。这种教学策略比较适合于中高年级,一般选择的阅读材料语言难度不大,接近教材内容,并尽量贴近学生的实际生活或者符合他们的年龄特点。 首先,充分利用选材上的优势来满足不同层次学生的兴趣,并根据学生的特点来激发每个人的学习热情,这是培养他们自学能力的一个重要方面。教师还应注意教学内容和教学形式的趣味性,以培养学生的阅读兴趣。其次,还要注重开发学生的学习潜能。在阅读过程中,教师应正确地引导学生开发其观察、注意、记忆、思维和想象等能力。阅读理解是英语知识综合运用的体现,阅读教学是为完成这一从“知识向能力过渡”进行转化的实战。从宏观上看,教师是主导,学生是主体。从战略上看,阅读教学要紧扣整体,化零为整,就大不就小,宜粗不宜细。从实质上看,读得懂,然后才说(输出)得出。 3、自主开放型策略 也称弹性阅读,以课外读物为本,进行阅读教学,适用于课外教学。 新课程标准指出,小学生的英语学习在毕业时要达到二级目标要求——即除了能认读、理解教材上所示的单词、短语和对话、短文外,还应看懂贺卡等所表达的简单信息,借助图片读懂简单的故事或小短文,并养成按意群阅读的习惯,正确朗读故事或短文,并看懂英文动画片和程度相当的英语教学节目。要达到这一目标和要求,仅靠教材所提供的语片和材料,肯定是远远不够的。课外材料的合理、有效利用,既是对教材的有效补充,又是对教材学习的一种检测和提升,也是提高学生英语能力的有效、直接的方式。另外,课外阅读能让学生扩大视野,获取知识,不断巩固和提高已学过的语言知识及其运用能力。同时,旧知识在新的语境中不断复现,新语言现象的频频出现,通过反复的阅读和合理的引导与帮助,能让学生起到触类旁通,拓展视野,深化知识的作用。 可以采用以下几种方式进行检测和反馈:一是腾出课堂教学的1/3时间用以自读,教师提供一些课外读物,让学生根据自己的兴趣爱好选择材料自由地阅读;二是鼓励学生课外广泛阅读,阅读的内容应切合学生的实际水平、兴趣爱好;三是开展丰富多彩的课外活动,如开展手抄报比赛,开展讲故事、作讲演、演短剧等活动,背诵和改编rhyme,chant等和唱一些英语歌曲以及鼓励学生互相交换英语课外书和视听材料等。这些课外阅读活动会让学生仔细自主地钻研手头阅读材料,不仅激发了学生阅读的积极性,而且还扩大了学生的词汇量,提高了学生的活动能力,锻炼了学生的英语思维能力。 三种阅读教学策略是相辅相成的,教师和学生在运用的过程中,应根据不同年龄、不同层次的学生灵活地、综合地使用,才能充分地发挥出其最佳效果。 二、提高学生的英语阅读能力,建构阅读教学的模式。 1、内容文字难度不大的文章,以“听→说”为主线,并以“分→总”的方式进行教学。 2、内容难度较高的文章,以“听/读→说”为主线,即“总→分”的方式进行教学。 3、“总→分→总”教学模式,即“读→说→写”。其基本框架结构如下:passage→generalidea→words/phrases/patterns→passage→specificidea→output 三、运用信息技术辅助小学英语阅读教学 随着计算机、网络的发展,将信息技术运用于课堂教学已受到越来越广泛地接受和采纳。在小学英语阅读教学中充分发挥信息技术的数字化、网络化、智能化和多媒体化的优势,以计算机为工具,以网络为资源,以活动为载体,以语言交际为主线,丰富教学形式,优化教学过程,对于提高学生英语阅读能力发挥着很大的作用。信息技术的应用,可以根据阅读内容呈现情景,使教学过程变得形象、生动、活泼,营造良好的学习氛围,使学生乐学、爱学,激发求知欲望。 阅读教学碰到的最大问题便是学生手头没有那么多图文并茂,程度适中的阅读材料。 四、在英语阅读教学中还需注意的问题 1、要授之以法,把学习的主动权交给学生。 传统的看法认为教师的任务就是传授知识,但是仅仅传授知识是不够的。要提高学生的素质,就要培养学生的能力。因此英语阅读教学中要突出“学”字,从让学生“学会”转到培养学生“会学”,授之以法,把学习的主动权交给学 2、渗透异国文化,拓展阅读空间。 语言具有丰富的文化内涵,英语学习中有许多跨文化交际的因素,这些因素在很大程度上影响对英语的学习和使用,因此通过文化背景的渗透来培养文化意识有助于学生真正学好、用好英语。在Myholiday的教学中我也积极地渗透西方节日及文化。如Christmas,ThanksgivingDay,Valentine’sDay等等,这样,让学生在主动,有兴趣的条件下自主地拓展了课外阅读的空间。 3、要在英语阅读教学中渗透人格教育。
